Not because I am curious what this celebrity has to say about her kids, or to read that another one is waiting for a connecting flight, impatiently. Twitter allows me to follow news and commentary sources such as Dow Jones&#039; <span>Marketwatch<\/span>, Bloomberg News and the Wall Street Journal. It assists me in keeping up with what is happening across the globe, while I am observing and <span>analysing<\/span> financial markets myself.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tWhile I am on Twitter, reading a quote here and a news flash there, I offer my own succinct insights and commentary. Those amongst you who have already discovered the virtues of a Twitter account can add my Tweets to their daily news via <span>@filapek<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tFor those who have no intention to join Twitter, but would like to stay up to date, below are my Tweets from the week past:<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&#8211; #Netherlands #AAA Outlook Cut as #Fitch Cites Shocks to #Economy <a href=\"http:\/\/bloom.bg\/14PKSYr\">http:\/\/bloom.bg\/14PKSYr<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n\t&#8211; Something to ponder: government debt cannot cope with higher costs. MS&#039; Gerard Minack thinks &quot;yes&quot;<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&#8211; This is a novel idea; a gold miner proposes paying dividends&#8230;in gold [GS] <a href=\"http:\/\/ow.ly\/hwxmV\">http:\/\/ow.ly\/hwxmV<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n\t&#8211; I like the expression &quot;buying fatigue&quot; hitting US equities <a href=\"http:\/\/sns.mx\/qQojy7\">http:\/\/sns.mx\/qQojy7<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n\t&#8211; The results of the January Australian Investors Sentiment Survey are out: cash moving off the sidelines <a href=\"http:\/\/goo.gl\/JbNWo\">http:\/\/goo.gl\/JbNWo<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n\t&#8211; Westpac cuts interest rates on packaged two year fixed rate mortgage to 4.99%, lowest level since April 2009, best offer amongst major banks<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&#8211; Hmmm. UBS strategists report clients have now become net sellers of #equities, after pouring more funds in earlier in Jan. An omen?<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&#8211; Do we have a trend here? Citi strategists advise clientele to &quot;position for pull back&quot; in equities. Markets seen running out of steam<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&#8211; #Equities have run too hard too fast, conclude strategists at Deutsche Bank. Pause if not pull back should follow. See 2010 and 2011<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&#8211; Market observation: yet another broker who concludes market too optimistic factoring in big earnings recovery. Macquarie on ASX Underperform<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&#8211; US pension funds cut back on commodities exposure as &quot;role of commodities as a diversification strategy is being questioned&quot;, WSJ reports<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&#8211; Market observations: yet another downgrade for Aristocrat, and another one for Tatts. More skepticism regarding Reckon. Same for Navitas<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&#8211; Usually not good news: DJ Carmichael ceased coverage on Hawkley Oil and Gas (HOG). Says should spend less on Ukraine portfolio by farm-out<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&#8211; Investors in Oz: still addicted to local equities? <a href=\"http:\/\/goo.gl\/nNJiw\">http:\/\/goo.gl\/nNJiw<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n\t&#8211; Oz stockbrokers today: Downgrade for Aristocrat, Upgrade for Hills Holdings; Macquarie reviews gaming sector, caution on Oakton<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&#8211; RBS Morgans believes market too optimistic on 2013 outlook for #Iluka. Maintains that risk is to the downside. Target cut to $9.50, Neutral<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&#8211; Credit Suisse reports Oz #Equities now look expensive, but US equities still look cheap. #Yield stocks no longer offering compelling value<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&#8211; Macquarie says February reporting season needs to confirm earnings downgrades have troughed to support 2012-2013 rally<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&#8211; Citi believes the Big Rotation out of bonds into equities likely to be more of a 2014 event. This year&#039;s story about cash on the sidelines<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&#8211; U.S. stocks suffer worst declines of 2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/on.mktw.net\/14Nd5PJ\">http:\/\/on.mktw.net\/14Nd5PJ<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n\t&#8211; Base metals prices mixed overnight, crude oil lower, gold up and #China Fe62 spot #ironore up by US$1 to US$154.2 a tonne<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&#8211; RBA, ECB and BoE all meeting this week but CBA says all meetings are expected to result in no change to monetary policy<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&#8211; UBS says #equities leverage at #AMP is being overstated. Plus ongoing headwinds core operations. Downgrades to Sell<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&#8211; The Big Rotation, out of fixed interest into equities: a fixture of our collective imagination? <a href=\"http:\/\/read.bi\/WNw9tb\">http:\/\/read.bi\/WNw9tb<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n\t&#8211; Are equity investors embracing the concept of cheaper oil? BA-ML certainly thinks so.
