US markets are closed on Monday night for Memorial Day. Wall Street will go very quiet tonight after lunchtime.<\/p>\n

The rest of the week in the US features a wealth of economic data releases to keep the Fed on its toes ahead of next month’s meeting, albeit the FOMC struck a dovish tone at this month’s meeting.<\/p>\n

Of particular note will be Friday’s non-farm payrolls report, preceded by Thursday’s personal income & spending numbers which include the Fed’s preferred PCE measure of inflation.<\/p>\n

Other releases next week include house prices, pending home sales, vehicle sales, consumer confidence, private sector jobs, the May manufacturing PMI and the increasingly-in-focus trade balance. The Fed will release its Beige Book and the first revision of the March quarter GDP result is due.<\/p>\n

Manufacturing PMIs are due across the globe on Friday, except for China, where both the manufacturing and service PMIs are delivered on the Thursday.<\/p>\n

The RBNZ holds a policy meeting on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

In Australia we’ll see monthly building approvals and private sector credit, along with the all-important March quarter capital expenditure and capex intentions report.<\/p>\n

On the local stock front, ALS ltd ((ALQ)) and Fisher & Paykal Healthcare ((FPH)) release earnings results, Steadfast Group ((SDF)), Challenger ((CGF)) and TechnologyOne ((TNE)) host investor days, and Melbourne IT ((MLB)), FAR ltd ((FAR)) and OceanaGold ((OGC)) hold AGMs.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
